Behind the music

The story so far.

Julie Mourillon appears in the Division of Culture’s account of Dominican popular music as one of the musicians who formed Exile One: the 1994 Gordon Henderson biography it republishes names Mourillon among the Dominican players brought together for the new band. A companion survey says that during the eighties Gordon Henderson, Jeff Joseph and Julie Mourillon were all pursuing solo careers and releasing albums. The essay on post-independence trends adds that Mourillon briefly worked with a funky kadans groove called Island Boogie before moving toward the emerging zouk sound. These government texts give no birthplace, dates or song titles, so this profile stays with that outline.
