Behind the music

The story so far.

Exile One is a Dominican group historically based in Guadeloupe and led by founder, singer and songwriter Gordon Henderson. The band’s own biography identifies its music as cadence-lypso and describes moving to Paris in 1975, when it signed with Barclay. Aki yaka and Rosita offer two entry points into its recorded repertoire; the selected provider credits name Henderson as a writer. The group’s official album page extends beyond those songs, listing releases such as Boomerang, Fraiche, Back to Ouidah and live collections. It also includes Gordon Henderson collaborations and other named projects, which should be distinguished from Exile One group recordings. Some entries have incomplete descriptions or inconsistent track numbering. The catalog preserves those differences and keeps similarly titled editions separate while documenting the available ordered tracklists.
