Behind the music

The story so far.

Francky Vincent is a singer from Guadeloupe whose playful, risqué zouk eventually carried him well beyond the island. France Bleu describes him as a longtime local performer who specialised in bawdy zouk before "Fruit de la passion" and its refrain "Vas-y Francky, c'est bon" brought him wider success in the 1990s. Le Figaro reported in 2018 that he described himself as having sold three million albums, and that labels had turned down both his zouk covers of Johnny Hallyday songs and a duet with Eve Angeli. The same article names "Alice ça glisse" and "La chatte à la voisine" among his songs. In January 2022 Mouv' covered "Éteins la lumière", a track where Francky sings the hook alongside the rapper Alkpote. His Deezer discography runs from the 1978 album Retour En Force through Piña Colada and Mathis métis to recent singles such as "Chérie Oh !", and his own YouTube channel carries the audio for "Chanteur de zouk love".
